II: The High Priestess

The High Priestess represents the wisdom that comes from observation rather than belief. She does not accept claims because they are ancient, popular, or comforting. She watches, listens, evaluates, and reaches her own conclusions.
In the philosophy of the Church of Satan, skepticism is a virtue. Emotion has its place, but it must never replace reason. The High Priestess reminds you that true understanding comes from questioning everything, including yourself. Assumptions are dangerous. Evidence is essential.
When this card appears, ask yourself:
- Am I seeing reality as it is, or as I wish it to be?
- Have I allowed emotion to cloud my judgement?
- What truth have I overlooked because it was inconvenient?
Silence often reveals more than conversation. Patience exposes what haste conceals. The High Priestess encourages you to trust your own perception, but only after it has been sharpened by experience, logic, and honest self-reflection.
Knowledge gained through independent thought is infinitely more valuable than knowledge accepted through authority.
The answers are rarely hidden.
Most people simply refuse to look.
